My Plan

My Plan

On September 8, 2009 in Arlington Virginia, President Obama gave a speech to students at Wakefield High School and all over the United States. The purpose of the speech was to reach out to students, their parents, and teachers to talk about school and their education. During the speech President Obama touched a lot of important points. He talked about the responsibilities of the students. He even gave examples of students facing harsh measures but were still able to succeed through school and with their education. During the speech their were two points that stood out to me tho most.

President Obama once said "But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed." I belive that this statement is true because a lot of students blame a lot of their failure on the school or the teachers. President Obama was correct when he said this because we can have the best schools books and teachers but the students still won't succeed unless they fulfill their responsibilities. The way I will make sure I follow this statement is to make sure all work is done and I am focused. Also the things like attendence and class participation count, so I will make sure I do my best in all classes.

In that speech President Barak Obama also said that "Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide." I also belive this statement because every student in the world is different. This means that each student has something to provide to the world. Even if I don't know my special talent school and education can help me find out what it is. I say this because I might not know what I am good at but a certain class can bring it out of me. I like to think that the Lord put me on the earth for a reason and it's my job to find out what that reason is.

In conclusion the speech that was given was very motivating. It made me realize that it isn't easy and that I would have to work hard to succeed in my school and with my education. It also made me realize that I also have responsibilities that I have to fulfill myself. I think walking away with the information that I have gotten from this speech it will help me succeed much more in school. So therefore all some students need is a little push to help them realize they can do it.
